14th Annual Midsummer NightmareDouble CenturyJuly 2, 2005 Spokane Bicycle Club 200 miles in one day What is the Midsummer Nightmare? It is a challenging 200 mile, one day bicycle tour on rural highways in Spokane, Stevens, Pend Oreille and Bonner counties. This year's route includes climbs over a couple mountains, by two lakes, along 40 miles of river, all on country quiet roads. Count on a route that is both pretty and challenging. The food is great. Club members supply lots of home-made cookies and pastries, plus a couple substantial meals along the way. The ride is very well supported and we usually have at least a one to one ratio of volunteers to riders. The Double is earlier this year, to avoid the (in)famous Eastern Washington heat. With some luck, you can expect pleasantly cool summer weather. Who should do this ride? You should! The ride is suitable for those who can comfortably finish a hilly century in less then eight hours. Racers, triathletes, randonneurs, bike tourists and strong recreational riders have all enjoyed the ride in the past. Typically more than 75% of the starters finish under their own power. And if you dont finish, at least you tried! Ride Information Starting place: Sharis Restaurant at Wandermere Mall 12502 N.
